Myriah R. Martin 

Acting Executive Director 

Myriah Martin, from Brooklyn, NY, is a Temple University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies/Africology. While at Temple University, she held leadership positions such as the Black Student Union President and the Student Ambassador for the Department of African American Studies at the National Council of Black Studies Conference. She presented her now graduate proposal, Urban Holism: Radical Reformation on Urban Policy Pedagogies which highlighted her passion for public policy reform focused on arts, education, and sustainable growth within Black urban communities. She is currently a teacher in the Department of Education and pursuing her master's degree in Liberal arts with a concentration in Cultural Anthropology at SUNY Empire State College.

When Myriah heard about MIFAL INC and MIFAL Arts Academy on a Facebook interview with Dean Lavender and Mr. O, she fell in love with us and immediately wanted to come on board to help move our company to the next level.

Nahshon Deas, a native of Boston, MA,  attended the New Beginnings Performing Arts Academy where his family quickly realized he could sing beautifully and act.  The school offered academics for grades Pre-School all the way up to college level.  He and his family moved to Pensacola, FL, and continued the arts as a member of the Carver Middle and Northview High School Marching Bands playing woodwind and drums.  He was an active member of the chorus, drama club, Fellow of Christian Athletes, and Track & Field.  

 

Nahshon started leading songs and directing at church, acting in school, and began playing the piano, and writing songs. When he was nine years old, he wrote and published his first song.  He was then entered into singing competitions and talent shows in which many he won.  By the age of 11, Nahshon was traveling across the country singing at conventions where he was fearlessly in front of 6,000 plus people at a time.  

 

Nahshon moved to Los Angeles, CA, and enrolled in Berklee College of Music's online Audio Production program where he currently is finishing up his degree.  As a man of many hats, Nahshon is also the Pastor of Worship at Newness of Life Ministries, a Hollywood actor, and newly the Administrator for the Music Instruction For All Learners INC. of Baltimore, Maryland.

Shonelle Calhoun is a Baltimore-based professional event planner who has been active in event coordination for nearly 20 years. Some of the largest events that she has overseen have included church galas, college celebrations, family reunions, surprise parties, bridal/baby showers, and weddings/receptions. Known for her warmth and magnetism, Shonelle infuses a genuine passion in all of her projects big and small, especially those that allow her to work within the community at large. When she is not working, Shonelle is busy being creative, whether it is through music, entertainment, or a multitude of other artistic endeavors. Shonelle has been a longtime resident of Baltimore and spends life with her husband and cat children.

Tiffony Demory graduated from Loch Raven High School in 2010, 2 days after giving birth to Ayanna Demory-Gray.  She is a mother of 4 beautiful girls, Aaliyah Demory, Ayanna Demory-Gray, Aubrey Demory, and Autumn Richardson.  They are her

A-Team.  
Tiffony loves cooking, doing hair, watching infants, and helping any, and all that may need her help in any way. 

She is a Chef and will graduate from her culinary program in April.  Her future goals are to own her own catering service, daycare, hair salon, and as well get her own food truck.

Jeffrey Milner

A native of Puerto Rico, Jeff Milner found his desire and love for cooking while working in a medical center in Boston, MA. After seeing how food insecurity and diet coexist, he decided to implement a cooking program and collaborated with Cooking Matters, a national program of Share Our Strength that helps individuals learn how to eat healthy on a budget. After finishing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in education, he enrolled at Johnson and Wales University in North Miami, FL and embraced his new career with passion. Upon graduation, Jeff began educating adults and children in the art of healthy eating and demonstrating cooking skills. On any given day Chef Jeff can be found creating healthy dishes using simple ingredients you would find in any kitchen. Some of his specialties include pistachio crusted salmon, roasted pear salad, fish tacos, and his famous roasted heirloom tomato basil soup. He believes that quality food and a healthy balanced diet is something that anyone can achieve.

Mark Johnson

 Parent Liaison

Mark Johnson is a native of Baltimore, MD.  He graduated from Woodlawn High, in Baltimore County where he then later pursued a career in the HVACR industry.  

Mark is not only our new Parent Liaison, but he's also a well-known businessman.  Over the past few years, he's been a great help and assistance to MIFAL INC.  He's at all programs helping at the door, helping other parents when they may have any issues, or just making sure his son Shahyan Harris practices.

You see, he's a parent who's vested time into the program over the past few years.  So, MIFAL INC is glad to have him on board as our Parent Liaison.
