What Will You Learn?

While we have in-house instructors for piano, guitar and voice (with over 50 years of combined experience), we can find you an instructor for almost any instrument you would like to learn. Our instructors currently teach from their home studios, but we hope to someday have a combined studio location in Baltimore. 

 

We believe the piano is a foundational instrument for learning music theory, so we will begin your instruction there, but will transition you to your instrument of choice within a few months. 

 

With any instrument, you will learn how to

 

  • synthesize and integrate the knowledge of posture, hand position, and instrumental technique into a daily practice routine

  • demonstrate technical proficiency on the principal instrument, as evidenced by touch, phrasing, and fingering

  • play a wide variety of contemporary and traditional styles

  • read conventional and chord-symbol (lead sheet) notation, and

  • play alone and in ensembles of varying size, instrumentation and stylistic orientation.

 

We have two recitals each year to showcase what each student has learned through both individual and group performances. These recitals occur in November and April, and have moved online during COVID. We hope to resume in person recitals for our local students as soon as it is safe to gather in large groups. 

Distance Learning

We are reaching out to students across the country and instructing them via Zoom. You heard it, our instructors will be reaching out to students across the country online via Zoom for instrumental and voice instruction. So if you're out there, and you've heard about our fine music program, don't let the distance stop you. We are here for you.

Instruments

The Piano instructors at MIFAL INC have over 50 years of experience with instructing piano. After you have your first lesson, you'll be ready to go home, practice, and come back for your next lesson and perform for your instructor.

With Erwin Otto Strings from K&S Music, you'll have one of the finest instruments around, and our instructor will top it off with the best music experience there is.

Band instruments from K&S Music will definitely help you break out in a beat especially using one of their fine K&S drums or any other brand of the drums that you'd like.  Your MIFAL INC instructor will turn you into the finest drummer around.
